
ISSA Chapter Meetings & Events
ISSA hosts chapter events, participates in industry conferences, and is an active member at trade shows and other community events.

The Organization
The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) is a global organization dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity education and professional development. ISSA focuses on providing a platform for cybersecurity professionals to network, share knowledge, and stay updated on industry trends. The local Capital of Texas (Austin) chapter hosts a range of events and supports many of the local security groups, conferences, and trainings in some capacity.
The Events
Chapter Trainings & Meetings: We host quarterly half day cybersecurity trainings that involve 5+ hours of educational content, networking, and a social event afterward.
Industry Conferences: We support and organize the Austin InnoTech conference security track annually, and are involved in providing support to many other large conferences annually.
Social Events: We host semi-regular members only social events, from sports games to happy hours.
My Role
As the local Marketing Director, I am responsible for the below activities for each event we host or co-host:
Creation of digital content for promotional materials including brochures, handouts, event page, and social content.
Creation and planning of tradeshow materials such as SWAG, digital content, booth/ table design.
Day of event planning and execution
Overseeing strategic planning and promotion of events
Collaborating with various teams such as event management, industry partners, and public relations
Evaluating event success through metrics such as attendance rates and ROI
